About Me

I started my career as an Industrial Designer

I grew up in Toronto, Canada, and always knew I wanted to be creative in some capacity. I gravitated towards art and design because, from a young age, I had the natural ability to draw. I also would figure out how to use any medium put in front of me with relative ease.

In 2010, I enrolled in the Industrial Design Program at Humber College. In school, I developed my skills in concept design, 3D CAD, and building prototypes. I did an internship that made me fall in love with agency environments and client-facing work. In 2014, I was one of the only women who graduated from that program that year.

In my five-year career in Industrial Design, I worked with small businesses and big brands. I helped my clients fulfill their creative visions online and in retail stores. I would discuss design briefs that defined criteria, project scope, and deadlines. I'd then adhere to brand guidelines while also providing innovative solutions. I collaborated with different departments and helped guide projects from concept to production.

I transitioned into User Experience Design

In 2018, we designed an app to help customers better navigate through makeup stores. This project led me to discover my love for app development. A year later I enrolled into the UX Design program at George Brown College.

I decided to make this change because I have always had a love for graphic design and illustration. My prior experience as an industrial designer also helped a lot as I knew how to design for users already. And as someone who is a tech junky and a total video game enthusiast, I felt that this was a great path for me to explore. I learned more about user research, stakeholder interviews, user testing, and web development. I learned Figma, Sketch, and Invision and how to design responsive digital experiences. I also conducted user tests for real clients and guide users through the process as a moderator.

In April 2020, I completed my certificate intending to start on a new career path in UX / UI design. I began working with companies and agencies to specialize in e-commerce, content creation, and social media marketing. I help small business owners get their websites optimized for e-commerce to sell their products to their customers. We also strategize how to grow their audiences on social media and create content to tell their story and share their company values with their fans.

I worked as a video game journalism and TV Host

While working full-time as a designer, I worked part-time as a content creator. My focus was on the video game and nerd culture industry. In 2015, I launched my youtube channel wanting to become a women nerd culture journalist. This led me to become an editor and content creator for the website and news outlet Ungeek.

With a following of over 10k subscribers on youtube and readership of 70,000 fans, I did game reviews. I worked with indie developers as well as AAA studios to play and review games before public release. I also covered events as an on-camera host doing interviews with celebrity guests at cons. I have done press at E3 2018 in Los Angeles, Fan Expo Canada for 4 years, Comic-con Toronto, and EGLX.

In 2019, I began hosting for The Lunchbox TV, a nerd culture show that airs on the Filipino Network and youtube. Between both platforms, the show has 300,000 weekly viewers. I cover events, host panels, interview talent, produce music videos, and cover the news.
